Parent Center

Did you know Sunset View offers parenting resources for check out? The Sunset View Parent Center is located near the library. It is open from 12:30-1:30 each day. Parents can find books on discipline, education, and other topics. We have many books available in Spanish. We also have flashcards and activities that can be checked out for parents to use with their children. Please stop in and visit. Feel free to contact Annette Evans at 374-4950 with any questions.

Counselor's Page- We are very fortunate at Sunset View to have Sara Banister working with students who have behavioral/social/emotional issues. Sara runs the Student Support Room and conducts various kinds of group and individual sessions to help students who are struggling with these kinds of challenges. She also publishes a weekly newsletter called Ready, Set, Go for Learning, that contains fabulous information for parents and teachers who need some ideas. There is information about ADHD, preparing for test-taking, conflict resolution, etc. We've set up a page from which you can access these newsletters, both current and previous.

PTA Requests

Please remember to keep on sending Box Tops to school with your child! It is amazing how they add up, and really help support our school! Also, we are collecting Macey's reciepts, Clean CapriSun bags (we get .10 cents a bag), ink cartridges, Cream of Weber lids, and you can now add Subway as a supporter (be sure to let them know your child attends Sunset View when you go). Also, the PTA is almost half way to reaching our goal of 85 members! We would love

to have your support in the PTA. If you are short on time, be sure to note that pledging your support to the PTA does not mean you are pledging your time. Your $5.00 membership fee helps us keep our programs running. Look for membership forms to be coming home with your student shortly. Thank you!

Volunteers

We welcome parent volunteers!  Thanks to the PTA who has helped us organize and track volunteers last year –we had a record number of volunteer hours. We need your help in classrooms, the library, playgrounds, as Room Parents, and in special projects.  Thanks to the amazing volunteers at Sunset View!

Don’t Throw It Out!

Our PTA collects several items to raise funds. Please send the following to school with your students:

Also, please register with the frequent buyer cards at Smiths and Albertsons for our school.

Take-Home Library

Can you help for one hour a week? We need volunteers to help with this program that sends home leveled books each night with students to help them to practice reading at home. With funding cuts, we are relying on volunteers to help keep this program going. If you have already signed up with your child’s teacher, you will soon receive a phone call. If you haven’t signed up, please call Mrs. Franklin at 801-374-4950. We plan to start the program on Sept. 8.

PTA Membership

If you haven't joined PTA already, please do! We would love to have your support! You are not committing any time when you join the PTA, you are just pledging your support to our local school. There are lots of opportunities available for volunteering, but it is not mandatory. Sunset View PTA sponsors programs that you may enjoy throughout the year, such as Darlings and Donuts, Reflections, Teacher Appreciation Week, Skate Nights, Red Ribbon Week, Scholastic Book Fairs, Vision and Hearing Screenings, and many more. Your small $5 donation funds these programs! Please watch for a sign-up form in your child's backpack and pledge your support. Thank you!
